EA FOUNDER FRUSTRATION RANT!

Some of the facilities make it hard to work with them and give others facilities that are more reasonable a bad name!

Why would any facility do this to an 98 year old??? How can we help make things better for them, when we have to worry about these stunts? Parts of our Facebook Post today….

This is so frustrating for us and why we must not stop until this uncalled for stuff does not happen.

We had a call from a family yesterday that a 98 y/o who was in a SINGLE ROOM, who had a bellyache the other day and tested negative for covid, and currently had NO SYMPTOMS but still moved to a covid section at the facility until they got results from an additonal PCR test with results to come back the very next morning.

The family fought tooth and nail not to move her with the additional test coming back the very next morning. But, they did what made no common sense at all!

We called the Ombudsman and thought this would be easy to resolve as there was no reason that could justify this move.

The Ombudsman despite their efforts, could not get her moved back to her room. Although the family appreciated their efforts, they were disappointed. We were confident the Ombudsman could take care of such a no brainer situation. We try to work with the ombudsman, but most times, it just makes us look bad for referring them as they can't get anything resolved most times.

We hope the family will file a state complaint or we have offered to do it for them. We hope they will consider letting us see if we can get media coverage on these stunts still being pulled.

We have strongly suggested they move her to another place. The resident does not want to move, but hopefully it may become an option. Sometimes the choice is to not move and be comfortable but not know what else they will pull, or instead, try to convince the resident they are safer somewhere else.

They want us to be nice, and we want to be nice and help improve the quality of life for residents, but it has been proven time and time again that being nice gets nowhere it seems unless your going to accept they control and do what they decide with your loved one. Some facilities just won’t work together with families, they have to be calling all the shots (no pun intended).
