Help us, Help others

One cannot make a difference, but together we can. If someone were to ask the board, is there anyting you don’t like about being on the board, what would it be? The answer would clearly be, having to ask for money through donations and fundraisers. We lead this organization to help others, and yet, in order to do that, we have to ask others to help us. Seem’s ironic. Then, we think, why do we do this? Why do we put ourselves in this situation to ask for help? The answer is simple. We choose to do this because we have seen with our own eyes the poor care the elderly are receiving. We realize this is one cause that can many times come down to a life or death matter for those being neglected. We do this because, we cannot ignore what is happening to our elderly currently and what we will all face in the future. We choose to do something out of our comfort zone in asking for help, because it is that important.

The board doesn’t ask you to help before they do. We have 100% Board participation in donating to this organization. When the funds run low, it is the board that ensures this organization continues. That is in addition to all the volunteer hours they donate to help. However, the board needs your help as they are doing all they can, but still leaves much help needed.

A non-profit is a business, however, not one individual makes profit from it. All profits go back to the organization for operating expenses and programs and services. We can’t function without paying for needed monthly services for our website, phones, and office supplies. For best practices, it’s only fair to have board insurance for those that serve the board. There are many organizations we need to join that can assist our mission. We have joined the Ohio Assoiciation of Non-Profits, but there are still many we need to join such as the Chamber of Commerce and other helpful organizations. However, they stay on our wish list for now. We can’t print enough brochures, to bring awareness of this crisis and obtain the needed volunteers to do more. Additional funding would help print more. We need membership brochures to build that village of voices that will be heard. That stays on our wish list for now. We want to hold as many public meetings and forums as we can, however, we need those printed materials on hand to pass out to the public. We want to visit random nursing homes several times a year and help residents with something they are lacking living on only $50 a month.

Starting this organization opened our eyes to all we can do. The opportunities are endless. Whether you donate $5 or $500 dollars, we have much gratitude for any and all help towards our mission. When we think of our mission, we think of all the faces of the elderly we lost with poor care involved, or the ones struggling now. We are dedicated to helping them. We hope you will join us in helping them. All of us together can make a difference.
